cctv coverage/blind spot

hi cctvcad support staff,

i am calculating the percentage of cctv coverage using all the camera's ACTUAL PROJECTION. However, when there is a wall in front of the camera, the projection is inaccurate.
Is there a better way of calculating the percentage or blind spot inherent in the cctvcad project?

VideoCAD doesn't take into account walls and other obstacles when calculate view area projections. In the most cases it is not big problem. You can see detailed 3D view.
To correct projections in your project manually do the following:
1. Make project without consideration of obstacles.
2. Outline view area projections by the same line type, subject to the obstacles. You can also use Filling tool for filling or hatching actual projections.
3. Disable visibility of calculated view areas or actual projections.
4. You will have projections with consideration of the obstacles.

If you make export to AutoCAD format, it is convenient to process obtained drawing and correct view area projections in AutoCAD.

1)Is it possible to have different color view area projection netting from different cameras?
2)Is it possible to more accurately model the view area projections by taking into account walls and other obstacles? If we can view it in the detailed 3D view, it should be technically possible to have an accurate view area projection by taking into account obstacles.


Videocad is an marvellous product, an godsend to cctv engineers, thus I hope that my feedback is valuable to you guys.

Sorry, it is impossible. In VideoCAD6 you can set different colors (line types) for each camera icons only. You can also set color (line type) for view areas of all cameras simultaneously.
I think it is valuable suggestion. In the new version this feature will be made.

Sorry, it is impossible. We receive such suggestion very often, but we can't realize this good idea for the present. It is not simple and not easy-to-use for customers.

If we can view it in the detailed 3D view, it should be technically possible to have an accurate view area projection by taking into account obstacles.

We have the detailed 3D view using Open GL technology. But Open GL doesn't offer tools for view area projection. In VideoCAD view area projection and Person detection, identification, License plate reading area projections are calculated by our own algorithms.

VideoCAD 7 can take into account shading from obstacles on the scene while calculating view area projection.

Shadows - a new powerful yet easy-to-use tool of VideoCAD 7. Shadows are calculated for all positions of cameras, shading objects can be located at any point of space. You should only enable calculation of shadows.



View areas of different cameras can have different colors, can be filled or hatched.
Camera view area can be divided into regions filled by different color and (or) type of hatching. Regions can differ depending on the following criteria:

* spatial resolution (pixels/meters, pixels/foot);
* vertical field of view size (meter, foot);
* vertical number of pixels covered by an object of the specified height (meter, foot);
* the part of the frame (%) covered by an object of the specified height (meter, foot).
